It wasn't long ago that board member Barbara Bolkan and her husband, Earl, visited Hope for the Hopeless in Ethiopia. While at the orphanage last Spring, they had time to chat with all the children individually. Each and every child expressed that the thing that made them the happiest was being one of the 57 children in their big family.
When the children first come to the Drop-in-Center they are in survival mode. They change as they stay. At the orphanage, you see sharing, trust, and love. If that isn't enough, you see self-discipline, even if no adult is watching. It is truly amazing and inspiring. They asked Fekadu, the director within Ethiopia, how that is accomplished. He said that at least once a week they have meetings at which they discuss and pray about everything. Together they decide what needs to be done, and they just do it.
